I am in Salerno now. It is extremely nice here. It contrasts Bagram in many ways - it is warm, organized and small. There are tree's, birds and a Dojo to work out in (plus a big gym).
I am thankful for the unit that we are replacing - they have bent over backwards to show us the ropes and the lay of the land. They have been far more gracious than I could have ever hoped for.
The unit we are integrating with is also very reasonable, which is nice. It is often perceived that Guard Units are not treated equally as active duty units, but our headquarters does not appear to bias us this way, as far as I can tell.
The mountains here are fantastic and remind me of both Colorado and New Mexico. There are lots of people here too, I thought it would be more scattered towns - I was wrong, it is has lots of folks.
Please pray for my unit as we begin to take over operations.
Please pray that our government can make good decisions about the employment of armed conflict.

This is all our flyers in one bus on the way to the Bagram terminal to leave for Salerno. Even sardines would have been uncomfortable.
This is Mr. L in a chow hall at Shank. We were waiting on folks to unload our 47 and had a bite to eat. Please note the deployment stash - he just shaved it yesterday :(
This is Mr. C's son.
