I've been Shank'ed

I consider it a blessing to be at FOB Shank now.  The air is good to breath here, and the ground solid under my feet.

I am thankful for the seasoned pilots I have quickly integrated with and of the knowledge and training they are imparting too me.

I am thankful the internet that was very easily connect to my room/tent.  It is pretty darn fast for third world speed.

I am thankful for my comrades back at Salerno, a great group of folks to work with.

I just finished reading Frankenstein - Mr. H had started reading it, so I decided to join along.  It is clearly a classic.  You should read it.  It is short, well written, and painfully depressing. Not my kind of reading, but  wonderful none-the-less.  Here is a quote from the book - one of many that were appealing to me.  Frankensteins monster makes this observation of humankind.

"Was man, indeed, at once so powerful, so virtuous and magnificent, yet so vicious and base?"

On a lighter note, here is a picture of a Christmas card that some random boy mailed to the soldiers at Shank, it was up in the CP I work in now...
This Ninja apparently doesn't like cats.

If you have just a moment, I ask that you would pray for these requests:

-Please pray for the safety of our aircrews.

-Please pray for our leaders, that they might make sound decisions about this war.
