The Beginning of the End

Planning to leave here is great feeling.  It happens to be one of my favoritve things to talk about.  I would say we are all ready to leave.  I am thankful that every one is so helpful to get the logistics set up for our departure, internal to our company, and the agencies external to us.

I finished two books recently, one called Foundation, a classic science fiction book and the other A Brave New World.  Foundation, well, not quite my cup of tea.  It was written in the 50's and the future foreseen by the author was pretty much a nuclear economy.  It dealt with a scientist who could use statistics to predict the future of human societies.

Brave New World is also a science fiction book, rather perverse and quite disturbing.  I noticed the author used some prose in his sentences, which is fun to pick up on.  The premise was a civilization genetically designed into a caste system, a society formed around the concept of completely avoiding pain, hassle and uncomfortable emotions.  As I think about the story, I believe one of the premises is this "True happiness cannot be had with out suffering."

 We had an amazing hail storm the other day.  I was sleeping when it started - but not for long - it was intense.  It shredded many of the leaves on the tree's, and the smell of freshly cut brush was in the air, quite pleasant. Below is an accumulation from several hours after the storm.

The mannequin made a second appearance, this time in the room of Mr. JW.  The picture below is us performing the placement.
