After 11 days of travel (2 in Memphis, 3 in Spain, and 6 in
Germany) it looks as though we are finally on our way.
They moved our cargo from one C5 to another. This is called “Tail Swapping”.
We got a new crew too.
The old crew rocked, but the new folks were great too.
I am thankful for our old crew, they did a great job at
keeping us safe, and making prudent decision.
I am thankful that we were taken care of well every where we
stayed – the lodging was great in Spain and Germany.
Below is a list of the places we went while in Germany along
with some pictures:
Kieserslautern
Landstuhl
Trier
Frankenthal
1 other place I cannot remember the name of.
We saw some people drinking this, and thought it would make
a good photo op.
One of our many rental cars. We upgraded.
H’s wifes grandparents were married in a church here.
Other thoughts on Germany.
It was festival season in Germany (called “fasching” I
think)– which if I understand the taxi translation – every one gets all the drunk
out of them prior to the start of lent.
There were parades in almost every city, drunken parades, with masses of
inebriated young and old people dressed up in all sorts of Halloween like
outfits.
I realized my
German language skills were in need of some practice when I asked the waitress at
a bar/restaurant “A table for one please” and she brought me a beer instead.
The whole time we were there, they had us on a 12 hour
recall cycle, which meant we could not go far before we had to check
back in to see the status of the plane.
And we went Go Cart riding – H placed second, J was second
to last and I placed last…
PRAYER REQUESTS:
Please pray that my unit makes it safely to their respective
locations in Afghanistan.
Please pray that the C5 crew who took such good care of us
returns safely to their home station.
